Boccia
Similar to the Italian game of 'Bocce', Boccia is a bowling game played by athletes with Cerebral Palsy and others whose arm and hand strength may be affected.
The game tests the player's accuracy, strength and concentration abilities; the main aim of the game is to throw the boccia balls as close as possible to a white jack.
Boccia balls are made of tough leather, filled with a grain-like substance. Boccia is played on an indoor court (6m x 12.5m) and can be played from local level through to Paralympic level. Athletes can play in singles, pairs and team competitions.
